Thresholds
Thresholds
The threshold depth matches the frame depth, except for the strip threshold. In residential buildings, the gap below the door usually forms part of the ventilation path, so a threshold with an air gap is used.
Materials and finishes
The standard threshold is lacquered oak. Other hardwoods, such as birch or beech, are available to order. Thresholds can also be painted.
Acoustic door thresholds have seals as standard. Fire doors also have intumescent seals, which expand when heated to close the gap and help restrict smoke spread.
Special thresholds
An automatic drop-down door seal is also available. It is practical for hotels, offices and other projects where a level floor and unobstructed movement are important.
